summertime dashboard confessional

This ridiculous, hot-as-Hades weather we have been experiencing lately is turning me into a pretty terrible person this summer. I have been quite grumpy, over-emotional and restless. It is also causing awful break-outs on my face. I feel like I’m in the 7th grade all over again. JOY.

SO, I thought I’d post some positive things about summer to get our minds off of the sweat fest in which we are all currently posting incessant Facebook status complaints about. While I’m at it, I’m really over the dashboard pics. Seriously. Let’s be done with that trend, shall we? I can assure you, we don’t need to see your Facebook picture of the temperature in your car to know how hot it is outside. My never-ending back sweat does that for me, thanks!

Here are my top ten loves of Summertime! What are yours?

1.  Lazy days with my girls

I’m pretty sure that we stayed in our pajamas one day last week until 3pm. This is probably my favorite perk of this job!

2. Grilling!!

I don’t eat red meat except for my husbands burgers because they are AHHHmazing. He made them yesterday with jalapeno and grilled pineapple on top. Best burgers in the world.

3. Iced Coffee

There is no need for any further explanation here.

4. Oceanside ~ Lakeside ~ Poolside

And road trips to see our families every summer!

5. Summer tunes ~

such as Jack Johnson and the Beach Boys! They make me think of beach bonfires, swimsuit wedgies and trying to avoid stepping on jellyfish while taking a moonlit stroll. If you want to be transported to the beach right now click here: Surfin’ USA  OR here: Flake

6. Tank Tops and flip-flops, sundresses and bare feet

Okay, that’s four things but for real – how great does it feel to go bare foot for an entire day?

7. Heat advisory days

Heat advisory days give me a good excuse not to run errands or get anything else done for that matter. If you think of something you need to do you can just say, “Oh, but I can’t step a foot outside or I will dehydrate and die, so I better not over exert myself today…just in case.”

8. Kissing sweaty, salty little faces after an afternoon at the park

And the smell of SPF 5000 on their skin even after their baths. Or maybe that’s just my girls…I might have a tendency to go a little overboard on the sunscreen.

9. Cherry Lime-Aid Happy Hour Sonic Runs!!!!

Need I say more? And this is a little FYI from multiple experiences, if you order a “cherry coke zero with lime” – you will not get this. They will get your order wrong EVERY single time. Probably best to stick to the basics and not go “crazy” with the choices when you order. Also, if you want to avoid extreme temper tantrums when you get home, DO NOT forget to ask for extra cherries for the children in the back of the van who are losing their minds. Believe me. Your life depends on this because for some reason, no matter how many times you tell them, kids continue to believe that Sonic is the only place where we can obtain Maraschino cherries.

10. Finding critters and enjoying the outdoors…

My girls LOVE critters and exploring. The summer is the best time to find creepy crawlies.

Happy summer!! Stay cool – literally, not in the year book way. Three more weeks till school starts!
